Origami cranes imbued with the wish for world peace are sent to Hiroshima from around the world. Some 10 million cranes are received every year.
The paper cranes are displayed in the Peace Memorial Park for a while and then transformed into recycled paper.
These origami cranes are then given to us by Hiroshima City, and they are then sorted by color and shredded. These paper scraps are then meticulously processed by craftsmen to produce this “Shikaku”, an original form of traditional Japanese “Washi” paper.
Created by the excellent techniques of the craftsmen, this “Shikaku” paper is characterized by its beautiful delicacy and uniform texture.
“Shikaku” is perfect for persons who want to fully appreciate the charm of traditional Japanese "Washi" paper. Fully enjoy its beauty by using it to decorate your most precious places.
* As the paper is made from natural materials, please be aware that there may be slight individual differences between sheets and color variation.
